Post Art Marathon Statement

During the Art Marathon I do not think I learned very much seeing as I honestly did not experiment or step too far outside my boundaries. I was beneficial to be forced to create work at that kind of pace. I can see why the Art Marathon is a good idea for my colleagues who did not have a clear idea of what they wanted their SMP to be, but I do. I want to create my illustrated book, and that is where I see myself heading after the Art Marathon. I wish I had not of gone into my slump during the Art Marathon. I would have had more time and maybe would have branched out more. Now I need to storyboard out how I want the events of the book to unfold and generate assets for characters and places. I am going home this weekend and plan on bringing back the illustrated books that I own. I also am checking books out of the library. I looked up the artist suggested to me during my presentation. I can sort of see why Trenton Doyle-Hancock was a name given to me. The sharpie pieces I made during the Art Marathon are similar to his works, but his work frightens me a little. I did find some articles on him, and I know I still need to watch his ART21. I also want to play with some watercolor techniques, such as adding salt. I think that would make my backgrounds more interesting.
